Norman Brookes defeated Sydney Smith 1â6, 6â4, 6â1, 1â6, 7â5 in the All Comers' Final, but the reigning champion Laurence Doherty defeated Brookes 8â6, 6â2, 6â4 in the challenge round to win the gentlemen's singles tennis title at the 1905 Wimbledon Championships.^[1]^[2]
